Just chill
What I was thinking when I was making this here was jack squat. My concept for this piece was just to completely relax and not worry about what life is doing and all the pressures that are out there right now at this time on many people. It’s just sad for a lot of people to cave or just to snap under the pressure that happens upon them. Just chill the funk out. Forget about everything. Take a breath. Just relax. Grab yourself a drink, throw on some tunes, and just relax. Don’t worry about anything, clear your mind. If you stop for a moment and don’t think then you can think a lot better. Take this timeout for yourself and others. A lot of pressure that gets put on other people come from other people not chillaxing. It’s this infinite loop of pressure put on eachother from each other but if we all do our part and stop worrying about money, grades, work, bills, personal relationships, car problems, etc. for just a little bit we can all get back to the mad, mad world. You dig?

Static
Jumble our thoughts together, you get static. Pure, noisy
static. No sense can come of it and maybe that’s why we can’t make sense of our
thoughts sometimes. We could go cross-eyed trying to figure out every single
thought. Our brains are made up of networks and webs and thoughts travel across
those waves of thoughts until we can make sense of it. If we could map out
every thought that has ever crossed our minds, it would be one heck of a mess
and that was what I was trying to portray with this video.
Wabi-Sabi
Wabi_Sabi from Michael Telschow on Vimeo.
Wabi-Sabi is the Japanese esthetic philosophy which finds appreciation in the simple things. Those things which will not last. Impermanence, imperfection, and the unfinished. This object or expression which provides a state of the serene or melancholy. It celebrates the elegance and beauty of age. An evidenced patina of wear or even repaired brokenness. This video attempts to convey this mood to it's audience through images of antiques, poetic Haiku, phonographic acoustic big band era music, and a "Rutt/Etra" effect which gives it a dream-like aura.

Broken Words
Broken Words from Ryan Weber on Vimeo.
In this exploration of viewing through our minds eye, we as the audience see the speaker as darkened, diritied, blurred and vague; a visually literal portrayal of the speaker's negative emotions. The way the subject is visually portrayed is a reflection of the speaker's persona and what he is expressing through his spoken word poetry.
Withered and weathered the image of the weary soul wears out until it is washed away.

"When your eyes are functioning well you can't see your eyes."
I just experimented with the video effects for this one with no real concept. One of my "ways of seeing differently" was taking hallucinogenic drugs which I am too scared to do, so I figured this is probably what the world would look like after taking some...
I like the idea of altering the chemicals in your brain as a way to see differently because it is assumed that any alteration of our vision is not normal. We never question something which has such an obvious purpose. Once it is changed, however, we realize something is "wrong." We suddenly become aware of the existence of whatever is no longer functioning on a normal level.
Warhol Abstraction
Warhol Abstractions from Michael Nespo on Vimeo.
Artist's Statement: For this project I chose to take the Warhol segment from my previous video project a step further. I decided to find free domain interviews of Warhol and his friends and colleagues and make a sort of montage documentary abstraction. I found archive interviews and footage on archive.org and added some effects to abstract them. I also used musical footage from the Velvet Underground at the beginning and the end of my piece, since Andy Warhol produced the band's first album, as well as did the album art. The effect that I used the most was the replicate effect. I felt this gave the piece the same type of feel as Warhol's 50 soup cans and worked well with the piece. I also used a lot of the 3-D effects in Adobe Premiere as well. I like the way that it gives the screen depth and makes it somewhat space-like. I also added transitions and fades after clips to give it the piece better continuity and flow. Overall, I enjoyed this project more than the others that we have had in the class. Mainly due to my love for abstractions. The Magical Thing: Water
Water and Video from Katelin Hager on Vimeo.
For this project, I wanted to explore the movement of water in relation to video. I noticed that making artificial video with video effects was very similar to the movement of water in the last project I did so, I decided to put some of these things side by side and embellish them. I used audio from the actual videos behind the artificial video and was pleasantly surprised by how much the audio suited the video I composed. Fluidity is the thing that water and video have in common. They move in similar ways and the purpose of this video is to highlight how they favor one another. They both can be subtle and nearly still, or rushing and flowing from a source. When inventing “water” I tried to emphasize certain properties of water that I appreciate like its movement and reflectiveness as well as it seeming ubiquitous."Meaning" of Music
2 Min. Effect Video from Frank Young on Vimeo.
The effects I added to the video allows you to see the image in a new way. Music is usually interpreted differently by each of is listener. I chose these effects to show that sometimes a song’s meaning may not always be 100% clear to the audience.Sunday, March 4, 2012
The Path of Art by Sky
An artist who does not know who she is or why she is making art is dancing inside her futile attempts at creating while on the verge of something wonderful that seems to remain ever-elusive.
Voyage
The artistic journey is always changing. Starting out not knowing what will come of your piece and in the end having a complete piece As it continues new ideas form from what came before it. The changing abstract shapes are my ideas in motion. The outcome is result of all of the changes along the journey from beginning to end.
