The Magical Thing: Water

Water and Video from Katelin Hager on Vimeo.

For this project, I wanted to explore the movement of water in relation to video. I noticed that making artificial video with video effects was very similar to the movement of water in the last project I did so, I decided to put some of these things side by side and embellish them. I used audio from the actual videos behind the artificial video and was pleasantly surprised by how much the audio suited the video I composed. Fluidity is the thing that water and video have in common. They move in similar ways and the purpose of this video is to highlight how they favor one another. They both can be subtle and nearly still, or rushing and flowing from a source. When inventing “water” I tried to emphasize certain properties of water that I appreciate like its movement and reflectiveness as well as it seeming ubiquitous.
