Warhol Abstraction

Warhol Abstractions from Michael Nespo on Vimeo.

Artist's Statement: For this project I chose to take the Warhol segment from my previous video project a step further. I decided to find free domain interviews of Warhol and his friends and colleagues and make a sort of montage documentary abstraction. I found archive interviews and footage on archive.org and added some effects to abstract them. I also used musical footage from the Velvet Underground at the beginning and the end of my piece, since Andy Warhol produced the band's first album, as well as did the album art. The effect that I used the most was the replicate effect. I felt this gave the piece the same type of feel as Warhol's 50 soup cans and worked well with the piece. I also used a lot of the 3-D effects in Adobe Premiere as well. I like the way that it gives the screen depth and makes it somewhat space-like. I also added transitions and fades after clips to give it the piece better continuity and flow. Overall, I enjoyed this project more than the others that we have had in the class. Mainly due to my love for abstractions.
