I'm All Alone
I'm All Alone from Michael Telschow on Vimeo.
Isolation and loneliness for some can be an unnerving part of life which they would avoid. Society surrounds itself with electronic medium. The connectedness provided through these tools gives us the illusion that because we see images on the television of people and hear them talking, we are not alone. This illusion can not provide the same satisfaction as spending time with a real person. I surround the subject in this video with multiple forms of media images, yet with all this input stimuli they just continue appealing for a response from someone. Connectedness is today's global marketing strategy. Social networks are joined worldwide. Everyone wants to be friends with someone. This video addresses the psychological drive within to not be lonely and make a real personal connection, for even though we surround ourselves with illusory virtual medium, it can not take the place of real human intimacy. The projected image on screen, mixed with the televised image, and the actual real time captured image all reproduce the subject over and over depicting the underlying narcissism behind the medium tools we use for connection. We have them so that others may have the ability to connect with us, or so we have the ability to connect. Yet, socially we are more lonely and isolated than ever.

Big fan of your work. This, or an idea like this should go viral in my opinion. So true, this unfulfilled craving...
